Our Fire Pan Ground Cloth For River Camping is constructed of Fire-Sil™, a composite heat resistant fabric. Fire-Sil™ will withstand glowing embers that fall from the firepan, but embers and burning wood should be put back into the fire as soon as possible.
(In an emergency, a small, short duration fire could be built on 3-4 inches of sand mounded on top of the ground cloth without damage.)
This ground cloth minimizes your impact on our landscape while extending a zone of protection well beyond your fire pan. It will withstand glowing embers that fall from the fire pan. However, to maximize the life of this ground cloth, you should put embers and coals back in the pan and not allow them to remain in contact with this ground cloth. Do not build fires directly on this ground cloth. Be fire wise - keep a shovel and bucket of water nearby and never leave your fire unattended. Always clean your campsite and dispose of ashes and unburnt charcoal according to the regulations of the area you are using.
